Samantha Kasprowicz is a British-Australian photographic artist. She graduated from the University of Newcastle (AUS) with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications.
Samantha’s work combines photography and sculpture to explore the narratives of everyday life in unique and abstract ways.
Her latest body of work ‘Ripe Fruit’ is a metaphor for the invisibility of women as they age. Through an iterative process, Samantha hand-casts, molds, and paints bananas before photographing them to mimic their environment. These colorful and at times theatrical images are then married with titles derived from language commonly used within the beauty and fashion industries, to objectify and shame womens’ appearances.
Earlier in 2024 Samantha was honored to be chosen to participate in the Vashon Artist Residency program, where she spent a month refining her process and casting around 60 bananas.
Samantha Kasprowicz lives and works in Seattle, WA.
