Ripe Fruit
From hand painted bananas that want to seamlessly blend into their surroundings to a picnic of oranges clowning around, welcome to ‘Ripe Fruit’ - an ongoing photographic project which explores ideas around the invisibility of Women as they age. Casting fruit as the subject, the images take on themes around camouflaging to hide, as well as the choice to frolic in the freedom of being unseen. The photographs aim to question the viewers perception around women and ageism in an era where women’s rights are constantly challenged.
If no one can see us, perhaps we can be ourselves, perhaps this invisibility is truly our superpower.
*Note this series is an ongoing project and will be updated throughout 2024.
